  • The first Orient Express hotel is set to open in King Power Mahanakhon Building in Q4 2019, providing 154 luxurious guestrooms, suites, and penthouses to the local market.

The first Orient Express hotel in the world is set to open in the landmark King Power Mahanakhon Building in Bangkok. This property will be slated to welcome guests in the final quarter of 2019, 136 years after the Orient Express took its maiden journey from Paris.

Orient Express Mahanakhon Bangkok will feature 154 keys including nine suites and two penthouses, as well as an entire floor devoted to wellness including an outdoor pool and jacuzzi plus signature Orient Express Spa by Guerlain. Guests will have access to the building’s spectacular rooftop observation deck and rooftop bar, all rooms will provide stunning views over the Far East ‘City of Angels’.

The 78-storey King Power MahaNakhon, formerly known as MahaNakhon, was sold partly by Pace Development Corporation Plc to King Power MahaNakhon Co., Ltd in a US $441.7 million deal in April 2018, including the 150-key Bangkok Edition Hotel, retail space and the observation deck. Located on a 1.46-hectare site, this tallest building in Bangkok was launched in December 2016, also featuring Ritz-Carlton Residences with 200 apartments and MahaNakhon Square with retail and F&B outlets.

In another context, AccorHotels and SNCF Group signed a strategic partnership in 2017 to develop Orient Express hotels after AccorHotels had acquired a 50% stake in the share capital of the brand. Afterwards, these Orient Express properties were rebranded as Belmond hotels beginning in March 2014.
